In response to her room-mates’ nagging challenge , Sheena stepped boldly towards the cremation site that had been abandoned for long. It was almost half a mile away from her hostel. The dark sky above seemed to grin at her wickedly.
Suddenly, she felt her dupatta being twisted around her neck by invisible steel-like hands in the form of green creeper plants. They seemed to have lunged towards her from the nearby bushes which were thick enough to hide a dozen monsters.
As she felt her slender neck being squeezed, she heard a bloodcurdling chorus-like whisper – “Many moonless nights have passed us by without a visit by a foolish, rebellious girl like you, Sheena. We just can’t let you go back to the hostel. We need your heart, your brainless head and your characterless soul.”
Then the ground beneath yawned open hellishly and swallowed her whole without leaving any trace of her presence.
